Pilot shoot Posted on 2016-05-04 by Kim Ferrari

Two weeks ago I was assigned as second camera operator for a charity event called Writegirl.  I was literally handed the camera and was told, "ok, go shoot some b roll and get some interviews".  I was a bit shocked because I thought I was going to shadow and observe.  However my mentor Daniel explained this is the only way I was really going to learn.  At first I was a bit intimidated and nervous but after a few shots I began to relax and started having a blast.  By the end of the night It felt as though I had been doing it for awhile.  Afterwards my mentor took a look at my footage and felt I had captured some great stuff.  This led to another project that is coming up in a few days.  My mentors are filming a pilot this Friday in which I will also be partaking in.  I am so excited because every time I show up I learn something new and unexpected.  What's really great is they both allow the room to be creative and share my ideas as well.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with them and could not have had a better experience than this.
