When I arrived in Los Angeles on Feb. 5th, I was hooked up with my screenwriting mentor, Philip Halprin, and scheduled our first phone call. During our call, we got to know each other, go over screenwriting, we discussed the ideas I had, and he gave me some films and shows to watch and gain insight on what I can take away from those films and show to improve my ideas.
On Wednesday, I got to meet my filmmaking mentor, Aimee Schoof, at a coffee shop close the Venice Beach. We took the time to know each other, she asked if I had any experience with film before, she asked me about ideas I had for projects I wanted to work on, and she gave me some stuff to go over and check out this week. She even got me hooked up with other film connection students that she's currently mentoring so we can wor together on projects.
So far, I've gained a lot on insight on pre-production and got to explore a lot of Los Angeles this week. I'm very excited for the next few months of film connection in Los Angeles. I'm really looking forward to more of the assignments, more of the mentoring, and more of the filmmaking experience.
