Yesterday was an awesome day!! My mentor has a friend who is a music composer of a tv show called "Good Witch" I got to meet another film connection student named Olivia which was great! We spent the day together and saw many cool things. We started off sitting in on a review processes. We got to see the director and producer suggest edits. They only focused on the music aspect. Each character on the show had their own music soundtrack. On certain lines they wanted slight music changes to really set the mood. Whether the character was excited confused, disappointed, etc. After a full episode was reviewed, we got to go down and see the set while they were filming. The building is giant and there are multiple productions going on in it. Becuase the show has a high budget for each episode, the sets are very realistic with a lot of detail. For me, seeing the sets was probably the coolest thing of the day. It's all a big illusion which is so neat! It was great to see the review process of an episode prior because I recognized some of the sets from the show! I got to see some of the filming as well! I saw the slate board, the crew and what some of them did and the actors, which some are quite famous! The producer also talked to us a little. There was a loud bell would ring every time they started and stopped filming. They were very organized on the set. After that, Olivia and I got to watch the editor as he edited. He explained some stuff about editing and told us about his journey in filmmaking and as an editor. He said: they're no fewer job opportunities in film then any other industry, you just gotta be willing to work hard, have good ethic and wait for people to notice. Overall it was a great experience. I think I will be heading back there next week, to see the music get produced which should be fun! Enjoy the pictures below!
