John JenneNew York Film Connection

Major:

My name is John Jenne. I am a 19 year old from Huntington, New York, a township located in Suffolk County on Long Island's north shore.

I have had a strong passion for film and being a part of the creative process behind the scenes ever since I was just 9 years old. I was inspired by a teacher who taught a creative video program at a local camp that I attended. From there I started out making incredibly amateur claymations with my friends, and soon advanced to shooting live action stories.

During my time in high school, I took video and photography courses every year as well as participated as an active member of my schools video, photo, and yearbook clubs and eventually became a school video intern during my senior year. I was invited to the Locust Valley Film Festival at Five Towns College 3 years in a row and received "Best In Show" for 2 videos that I had submitted.  I soon was inducted into the schools Art Honor Society and went on to receive the class vote for "Most Artistic".

I went on to graduate high school and attend one year at Hunter College for Film Studies. I hated it. The curriculum was dull and slow, the people were boring and unmotivated, and I felt like I was making 0 advancements in my abilities while I was there. I left hunter and later attended a conservatory course at New York Film Academy to focus on Digital filmmaking as well as traditional 16mm filmmaking. I LOVED IT! I met so many interesting people of all ages from all over the world who I still keep in touch with today as well as plan on collaborating with in the near future.

I have been involved in many different video/photo projects in and out of school for about 7 years now, ranging from school projects that have gone on to receive awards at local film festivals, promotional/instructional videos for local businesses, documentaries about local and worldwide evangelistic mission trips for christian ministries and foundations, wedding videos, sweet sixteen videos, Landscape Design photography for several different contractors, before and after photography for local architects/contractors, and many more miscellaneous free lance jobs as well as digital shorts.

I have experience using Arriflex S 16mm cameras, Super 8 cameras, 35mm Minolta and Fuji-film still cameras, Various Nikon/Canon DSLR's, as well as the Panasonic AG-HVX200a and AG-HPX170.

I have been editing video with Final Cut Pro for almost 8 years now and have significant experience with Soundtrack Pro, Compressor, Motion, DVD Studio Pro, Adobe Premier, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Aperture, Final Draft, Celtx, and Logic Pro.

To live happily means I can continue to tell stories though this medium for the rest of my life, and I will do whatever it take to do so.
