March 7, 2016 - A Continuation of my Film Connection Journey Posted on 2016-03-07 by Mary Anne Zamora

It has been quite a while since I've posted on my Student Blog. I can’t believe how busy I've been since 2016 started. I’ve been traveling a lot, and there’s a very strong chance that I might actually end up finishing my Film Connection Program in a different city from where I started. This doesn’t bother me at all, because nothing gets me more excited than accumulating more story ideas from life on the road, and from always being on the lookout for new possibilities and places.

Even though my life has been hectic and full of travel and movement, thanks to the Film Connection’s wholehearted embrace of new online technologies, I’ve been able to continue creating, writing, and shooting on the fly. My professional Wordpress Website is almost ready at I plan on migrating most of my Photography, Film/Video Production Work, and Writing/Blogging to my new site; however, my (Professional) Social Media Pages are also up and running. I've been focusing mainly on Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr under the name @Visuaholic. You can access most of my Social Media Pages through direct links on my Website.

Prior to going on this travel spree, I wrote and directed a short Horror/Fantasy film temporarily entitled "Party Pooper" with the assistance of our hardworking, passionate, and knowledgeable Charlotte-based WestArtVideo/FilmConnection production crew.  Seriously, I would not have been able to accomplish this task without their competence and professionalism. I took the Short Film Footage with me, and just haven't found the time to sit for a while and edit/color grade my project yet (but I will soon enough).

My Screenwriting Skype sessions with Child’s Play 2 Writer/Director John Lafia are going very well with minimal delays and interruptions due to the mobile nature of our meetings. Currently, I am in the middle of the research stage, and coming up with the legwork, structure, and outline for my feature-length Horror Screenplay temporarily named "Demon in the Corner". Pretty soon I should be ready to dive right into writing my script full-time with John's invaluable feedback and assistance. I’ll be posting regularly about the process and research involved in writing my story. Having worked with John Lafia for a few months now has made me realize just how much I enjoy Screenwriting and Fiction Writing in general, and that I wouldn’t mind at all if I could focus on this one area of Filmmaking further down in my career.

I plan on Blogging about my Projects, and stuff that I am passionate about, on my Website. My hope is that the platform will sort of become my "Central Command" where I can organize all my thoughts, photos, videos, production diaries, short stories, art, etc and share (and hopefully) start building an audience for my projects, which can be quite a “niche” product. One day this Blog, together with my Social Media Channels, could become invaluable in the broadcast and promotion of my work. And so the creation process continues! Next post coming soon. :-)
